WPS for 4130 to A106B

Good morning all,

I have a 4130 material to weld a coupon for qualifying procedure for API flange to line pipe. I understand that the lesser the tensile the better for hardness. the material is:
1. Yield @ 0.5% = 90ksi and 89.2ksi AND @.2% = 89.9K and 89.2k
2. Tensile = 106.6ksi and 105.9ksi
3. As quenched hardness =Rc 49.3
4. Quad hardness test Rc = OD->18.6, MID->18.9 and ID->18.2
5. %elongation: 35...%R/A=67

the above is the coupon as it is now, after I weld it to an A106B with a TIG root and hotpass and 7018 fill and cap, with good pre-heat and PWHT, does it look like something that'll pass NACE Vickers?

ALSO:
The material is said to be normalized/austenitized at 1620 for 5.8 minutes...is there a heating method efficient enought to do this in 5.8 minutes???...is continous furnace (walking beam) able to do this??

Since you have not defined what good - preheat and PWHT is, run the coupon and test it. This is all that matters.

You do not want to re-heat treat this component if at all possible.

does the idea of a 4130 steel austenitized in 5.8 minutes, is there a media that can get that done in 5.8minutes?

I believe that the "5.8 minutes" is the hold time at the austenitizing temp.

I'm not very familiar with these processes, but the reason why I'm asking is that most of the N, Q, and Tempering processes I see have hours of Normalizing/Austenitization before quenching, sometimes up to 5 hours or more. Does it mean that what takes other processes 5 hours to normalize took this only 5.8 mins or that it's already heated up to the 1620F for hours and then held at that temp for 5.8 minutes.
Here's the way the MTR put it:
Austenitized @ 1620F for 5.8 minutes, Temper @ 1300F for 79 mins...
