What is the difference b/t these file types

What is the difference between a *.DRWDOT file and a *.SLDDRT file ?

*.drwdot is a template for a drawing file.

*.slddrw is a SolidWorks drawing, usually created from a template.

*.sldprt is a SolidWorks part file.

*.DRWDOT = Drawing Template - This maintains your Tools\Options\Document properties options and anything you place on the Sheet itself (Example - a Title block)

*.SLDDRT = Sheet format - This maintains your Title Blocks or your sheet formats that can be placed in Drawing Templates. This is also where you can place notes, etc... in your title block for future use with models.

It's best to keep backups of all the above.
