I'm new to 3D but muddling my way through it failry well. But I've run into an issue I can't figure out.

To explain I'll use the example of a rectangular block. I want to resize its height by selecting it, then dragging it's corner handles. I can get it to go left-right, but not up-down. I do not have any axies locked with accudraw.

I turn on a side or front view, then select it, then try to drag the corners. It will not allow me to go up or down, but it will allow me to go left or right making it fatter, but not taller. When I click on the cube, then click on one of its corner handles, I get a little thing like the tail end of an arrow that sticks off the corner. I don't know what that is, but it seems to be an indicator of which way I can stretch. I have attached a screenshot of what that thing looks like below. Occasionally I can get the thing to stretch in the up-down direction, but I don't know how I got it to go into the correct mode.

Can someone help me with this basic action?

Thanks, Scott

shorton2,
Looks to me like your AccuDraw compass is not rotated to the correct plane rotation. There are a few short-cut-keys for AccuDraw compass rotation.

T - Top rotation
F - Front rotation
S - Side rotation

Place your MicroStation View into an Isometric rotation then try editing your block. As you try modifying the block hit the T, F, S, keys and the AccuDraw compass should rotate on the 3D planes.

Here is a video of using MicroStation and AccuDraw in 3D.

Perfect. That little arrow thing I saw was teh compas on its side. Swinging it around with the hotkeys did it, I'm in business now. THANKS
