Any of you familiar with the TIA might help me in verifying something...

Looking at wind loads on appurtenances and the gust effect factor.

REV-H of the standard has the factor for structures laid out in section 2.6.7. Paragraph 3 of 2.6.9 then states that the gust effect factor for design of appurtenances and their connections shall be 1.0.

It appears that this direction to use 1.0 for appurtenances was removed in REV-G and you are reverted back to the structure type...which makes sense.

Can anyone confirm the above? Or was something shuffled around in the latest code and I'm missing it elsewhere?

One bump for the large Monday cohort that is well versed in the intricacies of the TIA code. Then I'll let this die its withering death on the vine. :)

So, TIA-222-G actually defined the Gh for appurtenances as well, but in a very round-about and obscure way.

TIA-222-G 2.6.9 Paragraph 3 states the following:

'for the strength design of appurtenances and their connections . . . a gust effect factor of 1.0...'

In short, the Gh and Kd values explicitly stated in Chapter 16 in TIA-222-H were taken from TIA-222-G but more clearly defined, in order to avoid the confusion in G when it came to antenna mount analyses and what parameters to use. What ended up being called a 'mount' in TIA-222-H fell under the scope of 'strength design of appurtenances' in TIA-222-G. Confusing, I know, which is part of why Chapter 16 was added in to H, in order to provide clarity regarding antenna mount analyses.

Hope this helps!
