Swx Crashes when inserting Library feature

I have recently began having a problem when trying to insert library features.

When I drag a library feature onto a surface, Swx crashes everytime. It never gets as far as the dialog box that prompts you for the reference edges. This happens on standard library features from the Swx files and on custom library features that I have made.

I have upgraded to SP 5.0 and updated to the latest approved video card. Any other suggestions?

If you create a new LF, does the same thing happen?

Have you tried running a repair from the install discs?

[cheers]

Yes, it still crashes when I make a new LF.

I ran the repair yesterday.

Yeah, I went through that procedure. No luck.

I am pretty sure it is confined to my computer. I had another guy I work with try the same thing with the same library features and it worked without any issues.

I've had this happen a few times and been able to correct it by downloading latest video drivers. Youve got a great video card so the card shouldnt be the problem.

Dont know if its significant but this has always happened to me while using Dell computers. My HP workstation has always been quite stable despite being dated.

I'm pretty well stumped. My VAR can't seem to help either. I've thrown everything I can think of at it. My main concern is what if I do a complete uninstall/reinstall of Swx and it still crashes.

I keep trying to think of what other program may be conflicting w/ Swx.

Is anyone familiar enough with what Swx is trying to do in the background when it is initializing the library feature placement dialog? Is it using some outside application to bring up that little prompt window?

I know I'm grasping at thin air........

Replace your library features with the ones used by your colleague.

Maybe also have him use the Copy Settings Wizard to create a settings file so that you can import them to your machine.

Normally these issues are caused by corrupted .DLL's or unregistered .DLL files. If you record an RX of the crash your VAR should be able to submit that to SolidWorks and get the answer as to exactly what might be happening.

CBL: The library features were on a shared network drive. He was using the exact same files as I was. I will try the copy setting wizard.

Cole M: I have recorded the RX and sent off to my VAR. But it's been a pretty slow going process..... try their recommendation/doesn't work/wait a day or two for another solution/repeat steps 1 thru 3

Just thought I would pick y'alls brains in the meantime in case someone has already fought the same battle.

I don't think it is a network issue. I have the same problem when working with files located on my hard drive.

Something else that is puzzling is that toolbox features behave normally. I can drag/drop as many nuts, bolts, washers, etc into an assembly as I want.
