Hi experts we have a customer who requires 1.5mm SS 304L overlay on a MS pipe diameter 4 metres , thickness 18 mm and length of 5 metres . Information desired is

What will be the size of strip recommended .

What is the expected linear speed of overlay at 1.5 mm thickness .

Answers appreciated . Thanks .

Hi Kingnero ,

We have a 1600 amps CV power source .

Thanks

Hi Kingnero ,

Thank you for your input . Its ESW . Will the parameters remain same for both SAW / ESW ?

No, as ESW has a higher deposition rate it will also need adjusted parameters as well as compatible fluxes.
You will have to perform testing as to ideal bead profile, overlap, penetration/dilution, if necessary chemical analysis, ...
You won't find all those details online. Ask your filler material supplier for aid, they will most certainly be able to show you a WPS from which you can finetune to your specific needs.
