Steep slopes

Hi everyone,

I understand that steep slopes are more in line with the centre of gravity and therefore friction has less effect, but where is this reflected in the calculations for method of slices? in terms of the disturbing moment?

The bigger the distance the larger the moment right? so why is the distance from the centre point of the moment greater than a less steeper slope?

you forgot something you need to to specific about the material you are talking about
if its clayey materials , both the steepness and the height plays an important role and dont forget the OC ratio is a major factor along with fissures. But the radius also is important so if the radius is big then the momentum is even bigger.
Granular materials only fail in a planar fashion most of the time , rotational analysis is erroneous .
