Good morning all,
I have a slab-on-grade in a warehouse. What are your thoughts about post-installed, torque-controlled anchor bolts near a cold joint?.
The anchors will be used in a base plate for a steel storage rack structure - the anchors will not be subject to any tension loads - only a small amount of shear (around 400 lbf)
My initial thought was to assume the cold joint is acting as a free edge and there is risk of spalling during installation. I haven't been able to find anything in the code related to this situation.
In the hypothetical situation that the joint was a control joint, I would say it's ok to install the anchor as the joint is basically a crack and the anchor fabricators accounts for cracked concrete in their evaluation reports/design guides.
Thanks!
