Hi all,
Looking for some tips on how to calculate portal frame bracing sizes.(roof, vertical)
It's a simple single span,5 bay building,6 metres to eaves,roof slope 10 deg. 4.75m between frames,walls built to 2.4 metres.
Thanks
Do you have AISC design guide #7? That's a good place to start. Otherwise, if you can make your question more specific, I'll do my best to help. As it stands, it reads a bit like "how do I self perform a vasectomy?"
You really should engage the services of an SE of course. We're quite wonderful.
The greatest trick that bond stress ever pulled was convincing the world it didn't exist.
Cheers, got it sorted using those little resolution of forces diagrams.
Building Control are asking me for a design on wall panels. Would I be required to do a design on this?
The walls are 2.5metres high cavity wall with 140 block inner leaf,no vertical loads on walls, just built between stanchions at 4.75 metre crs.
I sympathise with your being unemployed, but you seem out of your depth.
Perhaps you should find a Structural Engineer to coach you through thia first project? I am very confident you have the required skills, but are lacking the know-how to apply them to this project.
CEL, I,m not guessing, probably used that phrase loosely there. Anyway I'm coming up with a wind load (Wk) figure of 0.52 kn/square metre. I assume that I compare this with the dynamic wind load for the building (q)? The structure has been built a year ago and there's no problems with it to date.
