How to calculate injectionmold manufacturing price before making a mold? Is it done only
by experience? Is there any poit to calculate how mutch time takes to make eatch mold part.
This will be found by multipleing machining time(drilling, turning, milling time) of eatch part with machine hour price.

Rauno,

Yes!, this process is done through experience.
Now-a-days it is a bit easier to calculate, due to CAD/CAM. Their are variables involved such as: the size of the component, if the component(s) need a: side action, unscrewing core, ejection system, special tool steels, slides, cams, type of injection such as a hot sprue, robotics, I could go on and on.
All of the variables need to be considered.

The cycle time is much easier to figure, but would be determined by the Polymer being molded, and the tool operation.

Mostly experience, Obviously you have to cover all costs so it's wise to add material costs and total labour plus machining time x their respective rates and then add your profit margin if that's not already included in your rate.

Wow folks if Moldcoster is indicative of what you're paying for tooling in the US, I should be upping my prices for design and Ally tooling!
