Fire at London apartment tower raises new concerns about cladding, LONDON, The Associated Press
Fire breaks out at London apartment block with Grenfell-style panels. The Irish Times

Sir Ed Davey said:
“My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this awful fire – and with all those for whom it stirs memories and fears.

“It is simply a national scandal that more has not been done by Government to remove this dangerous cladding.”
Grenfell survivors say ‘enough is enough’ amid blaze at tower with same cladding, UK News

To refresh some history Grenfell Tower Inquiry phase 1 report has been issued, Phase 2 hearings are ongoing.

There is still disagreement as to who gets to pay for remediation, the lessor or the lessee of the flat.

I was surprised that with Grenfell that there were no charges laid... I guess it's the British way... Clearly criminal negligence.

They haven't got to that point yet.

I think I read somewhere it wouldn't be until this year or 2022 before things start moving. Once the police hand over what they have to the CPS that's when they will decide.

It's been a while... how much longer?

The enquiry will have to finish first. Then some time after that before going to the CPS and then they can start in court.

And then the civil stuff will start.

Has any building authority yet identified all buildings in London that have these claddings, or are they waiting to find out from the "smoke signals".

Yes they have and across the country and there is major issues about it and who is going to pay for it to be rectified

Ironically, they used the same lab (former government lab) that aided the cladding firms fudging the testing to perform the follow up testing.

It gets even more interesting: The London Fire Brigade reports that the ACM panels didn't contribute to the spread of the fire - its spread was facilitated by the wooden decking on the balconies. Link There were also serious problems with the smoke removal and stairway pressurization systems.

Why would any architect, engineer, or fire protection professional allow wood decked balconies on a high rise? This is third world design.

Regards,

That tune appears to have changed. Which leaves the question as to what exactly is burning on the side of that building. It doesn't look like it is the wooden decking.

Here is what they had to say when it was still fresh in their memory,

If you think I am wrong about anything I say, then please do correct me, but please also refrain from condescending lectures to myself and others here, in the preschool level details of chem, math and physics. Thank you. I will try to do the same.
