Good Day!

We are looking at hardfacing the outer surface a very large solid shaft of 4330V. It has a diameter larger than 2 feet and is quite long. This size work is new to us and I'm trying to include all considerations as we prepare for the work. I'm wondering about how one goes about doing a suitable preheat on a rotating cylinder of that size? If anyone has any experience with something like this, it would be nice to hear what considerations we might need. Thank you,

GM

What overlay method are you considering? A spray method I hope.
What material and thickness are you planning on for the overlay?
How much pre-heat do you think that you need?
You have to make sure that the substate temp stays below the tempering temp.
