I have never used folders in the feature tree until this morning. In my head, I was thinking it would be a good idea to group all similiar components into folders(lights, grommets, angles, etc.) and this would make it easier to track down and edit parts in large assemblies.

Now after I have put alot of parts into folders, I have about a million mate errors that won't go away. Luckily I didn't save and just went back to before the folders.

From experimenting, it looks like you have to group the parts into folders and then do your mating??? Is this true? And does everybody use the folders feature?

BTW, I'm running 2006 as of today and never tried this on 05 so maybe it's just an early 2006 bug.

Have not had any problems using folders in SW04. Have not tried in SW05.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but, putting parts from one sub-assy into another assys folder will create havoc with mates.

Must be an 06 thing? This particular model has no sub-assys so it's not that.

No and after all of my files were saved to 06 files, it stopped happening.
