I need some guidance for design members made of eucalyptus. This will be a truss for a church near Lima, Peru. Does anyone have design values or know where I can get this information?

Wiktor,

Thanks for your help. It will get me started but I still still need info on Eucalytus in Peru.

As far as I know all Eucalyptus grown in South America have come originally from Australia. There are many species and the properties are in the Australian Standard AS 1720.2 ...available over the internet from Standards Australia. (metric standard)

You must know the species and the grading to assign most properties. Of course, as you know, the growing conditions are different to the native forests in Australia and so the properties may be better or worse. You would need to test in-grade to verify properties.

I would be surprised if testing of this timber has been already carried out in your country.

Escher,

Thanks for your help. I used the Australian information and used the lower bound for design properties. I have not as yet heard if they decided to build the trusses.
