how to determine cost of various sizes of valves including ball, gate, globe valves with class 150. is there any thumb rule like "cost/inch"

More reliable: cost/weight

Use weight multiply by steel price and use a factor (e.g. 6) and this will do as a "installed price" for a rough estimate (process piping)

THANKS MORTEN BUT PLZ MORE ELABORATE THIS. HOW TO FIND WEIGHT OF 12 INCH DIA GATE VALVE CLASS 150

Try a cataloug or talk to the vendor.

Many valve manufactors has great web sites with all sorts of info.

Try google if you dont know any manuf. by hart or talk to a colleague wich manufactor you usually use.

If you're trying to build a spreadsheet or program that estimates your valve and pipe weights/costs based on nominal size and pressure I don't think your results are going to be all that accurate. Valve costs/weights will vary considerably depending on type, trims quality level, and so on.You might try building and maintaining a separate database or spreadsheet with weights and costs direct from your vendors, then drawing your values from this into your estimating spreadsheet.

we are talking +/- 40% here (thats my suggestion weight/installed cost)

Best Regards
