Can anyone give me the expected corrosion rates of 316 ss in CSA (sulphonic acid) service ?

Acid temp: ambiant

We have some CSA vapors backing up a common vent header. There is no way to install valve for approx. 20'.

Thanks for any input.... Richard Schram

Obtain a copy of Hastelloy corrosion resistant tables, which gives you comparison corrosion rates for not only Hastelloys but aslo for various stainless steels and other metals with different concentrations and temperature ratinngs. This valuable source will be useful for years to come.

You may also get some ballpark information from a number of instrumentation suppliers who publish information due to their involvement in various chemical process indutries. It's in the form of technical bulletins or sheets avilable from Foxboro ( now Invensys), Honeywell, Gould, Fisher, Laurentian Valves etc.
