Hello,

after a prestressed modal analysis with contact I would like to get / compute the sliding distance of the contact elements for each mode.

This is easy to do after the static prestress solution step (etab,,cont, stat).

In order to compute der eigenvalues the contact status is automatically linearized and held constant during the modal analysis. Contact elements which had contact status “sliding” can still slide in each mode. So I would like to compute the amount of sliding in each mode.

The problem is ANSYS does not recompute the contact status of contact elements. I already thought on solving the problem by APDL but I’m not sure if it is the best / fastest solution. Also not sure, how ANSYS exactly computes the sliding distance.

So another way to put the question is: How does ANSYS exactly compute the sliding distance?
