I have a larger model on screen fit to viewing area. I want to zoom in and rotate/pan around a certain area. I hold in mb2 to lock in the rotate point, while holding in mb2 I zoom in,pan, rotate with space ball, release space still holding mb2, click mb3 while still holding mb2 to pan and the model abruptly jumps way off sometimes off screen. This never happened prior to 8.5. Is there a setting I can toggle for this not to happen?

Hi,
I could not replicate the same behavior at my end (may be i am missing your point).
But yes some significant enhancements were made for Rotation in NX8.5 ( like an arbitrary center of rotation located in the center of the visible geometry). There are some more and if i am not wrong then these are discussed in quite a detail way in older posts.
Thanks and Best Regards

If you pan while zooming you will duplicate. Thanks for the reply and I'll try to search previous posts

Using the same exact model with NX 8.0, NX 8.5 and NX 9.0, I see no difference whatsoever when trying to duplicate your display workflow.

I noticed the same going fom NX7.5 to 8.5, i use 'Set rotation reference' a lot more than I used to in 7.5 (in fact I dont remeber using it at all), I think the issue is more noticable if your a spacemouse user and have it set quite fast, its almost like the software cat set the rotation point quick enough, sometimes it helps to pause to allow the rotation point to settle on geometry in the screen centre.

Hey Khimani, someone else who likes to lock in the rotate point before zooming in with spaceball... I can't believe everyone doesn't do it because the area you want to see zoomed in will rotate out of view every time using just the spaceball, even with the new enhancement arbitrary rotate point because it will auto pick a point in space and not on the surface of your model. The hold mb2 rotate point center should never jump out of view unless you pan it out of view but it does. And anyways

Another thing with mb2 hold for rotate point is that after you hold and set point and zoom, if your in an operator, when you let go of mb2 it goes to the next input like you mb2 to select next input
