Automatic Inclinometer: How do you know you have installed in the correct elevation?

In an automatic inclinometer chain of 16 sensors distributed in 30 meters, how do you know you have installed in the correct elevation?

What is the industry standard for installation and checking?

You know the elevation of the borehole and you place the inclinometer to a depth below the top of borehole???/
