As a point of inquiry I'm wondering how other users assemble components mating csys to csys and yes, I use the datum csys feature to accomplish this.

My preferred method is to align the planes. Is there a better option?

If you use 'Touch Align' you can set the Type Filter to 'CSYS' and simply select the CSYS objects. You'll get a Full (no degrees of freedom) constraint with one pick.
