Hello All,

I am stepping into a project nearing completion and have I have a concern regarding the material tracking that has been done to this point. This is a ASME Section VIII-I vessel (to this point I have mostly dealt with API tanks, so this is a new to me).

This is a horizontal vessel consisting of three rings and two sheets per ring. The material is SA240-304l SS that had been purchased from a vendor cut to size. I have heat numbers transferred for all plates, but I only coil/slab/test identification numbers for two plates that have been dot stamped.

Is a heat number sufficient traceability for a coded vessel? If not, is my only option at this point to replace the four plates without coil/slab/test numbers?

Take a look at UG-77 and UG-93 of ASME Section VIII, Div. 1, for marking requirements on plate and other Code materials.
