Hi everybody,

according to ASME Sec. I,
do not we need any NDT for WATERTUBE BOILERS in the following situation:
- Pipe-to-pipe
- Circumferential weld
- NPS 10 (DN 250) (OD 27,4)
- Wall thickness 12,7mm
- Not Subject to Furnace Radiant Heat
- Contains Water
?

According to table PW-11, it is not required and
in PW-11 last paragraph it says:
" Experience has demonstrated that welded butt joints not requiring volumetric examination by these rules have given safe and reliable service even if they contain imperfections that may be disclosed upon further examination".

Is it correct if I prepare a "weld/NDT-Map" for this weld line without NDT?

Thanks in advance!

That is correct as per ASME Section-1(Volumetric NDE not required for NPS 10).

However please check the following:

1. The actual scope, is it B31.1 or Section -1. If B31.1, more stringent NDE requirements may be applicable based on temperature.
2. The local code requirements. The Boiler Code in India specifies more stringent requirements for boilers and piping.
