I am trying to find a reference mentioning effectiveness of using 410 steel in ethane/propane application. The composition is 80% propane:20% ethane. I found one place which mentions the use od brass, cast iron or cast steel. What other alloys are better suited for this application?.

Any comments ?

Thank you,

Mahadhatu

Your fluid is not corrosive, and 410 SS or Carbon Steel will not have any problems. The final selection depends on other factors, operating temperature, type of item and environmental exposure.

hope this help

Any ferritic or martensitic alloy (stainless or not) can have low temperature impact issues.
If there is some moisture in your system then using even a low grade stainless can be helpful.
