I am looking for a suitable ASME setting bolt material for down to -36°C. Additional load from Piping appeared and now strength value of material SA 307-B (160 MPa) is not sufficient any more. Anchor Ring fabrication is already finished, therefore we do not want to modify it.
Does anybody know a suitable material with strength value higher than 193.3 MPa which can be used at Temperature of -36°C?

Thank you.

To my knowledge, SA 307B is limited to -20F (-29C) and the allowable stress is 7,000 psi (48MPa). (ASME VIII Div 1 and ASME II, D)

Am I missing something here?

Paul

For this stress value you will need an ASME SB 637 Inconel 718 bolt material. At -20 deg F and below the allowable stress is 37 Ksi or 255 MPa.

Hi all, I am in great need of the latest ASME B31.4 Code on Pipeline Transport Info, can any one help.

Thanx, Chris
