Aluminum Weld Contamination Due to Punching Fluid

Hello,
I am a young mechanical at a aluminum fab shop. We weld most of our connections and I have been having a serious problem with weld contamination from of punch fliud. I realize the importance of cleanliness for aluminum welding but it is essential that I use some type of cutting fluid mixture for our turret punch. Currently we use a mixture of cutting fluid, transmission fluid and water on our punch and then attempt to wipe them down before welding. Needless to say the surface remains somewhat oily. I am looking for suggestions on a different fluid that will not effect the welds or any quick technique we could use to clean the weld areas. Thank you in advance for your time.

For your situation, I would probably purchase a cleaning solvent like that used for nondestructive testing (NDT). We purchase Liquid Penetrant cleaner from the following web site - there are other web sites to purchase Liquid Penetrant cleaner, as well. The cleaner is sprayed on the surface and easily wiped off with a rag, in preparation for Liquid penetrant inspection, but it could also be used for other applications. Removes most surface residue - great for preparing surfaces for inspection and pre-weld cleaning, and is safe to use as well.

metengr,
Thank you very much for your time. I do perform destructive testing here, however I do not do any nondestructive testing and was not familiar with the NDT solvents. I looked up that website and it turns out that Magna Corp. is right in my backyard. They are going to send me a sample to give it a try. I truley appreciate it.
