Hi All,

Attached a .stp file of a conveyor with 14 feet. The feet are all sub assemblies. The conveyor is nog equal to ground level.

This makes it necessary to change the length of each leg. Now each leg assembly has to bee unique and each individual leg too.

I'm looking for a solution to adjust the length of the feet while nog having to make each leg sub assembly and leg unique.

Can someone offer a solution for this question. (i imagine i'm not the first to have this problem [bigsmile])

Make the legs deformable (deformable part). With this you can add the same part multiple times with different length for each instance of it.

nutace,

I understand the deformable part. Can this also work when reusing the same assembly ?

Hello,

Could Part Family cover your needs? You would be able to define which instance to use while adding part to an assembly.

Lockdain,

Sound good a part family. So when i insert a leg assembly i would be able to choose the length of the leg's ?
And there is no need to rename assembly files and part files ?

Lars,

It's a bit different. Now i think, that Part Family was not so good idea. I guess it's better to use WAVE-link to the floor surface, which would control some of the leg parameters... Need to think. There are many ways to do it, even part families would allow you to replace component with another one from the spreadsheet. I recommend you to take a look at WAVE and Part Families.

You can always choose to deform such a part even when it was already added and deformed before...
Have a look at below video on Youtube....it will explain how to use the Deformable part function, and how to apply in assemblies

Could you use the constraint override, to adjust the reused sub assemblies?

Dave, i assume that the author needs to change the component's length depends on the floor surface, not only the constraints.

Dave,

If I make a assembly of the leg with the vertical tubes as deformable part I would be able to place this assembly in the main assemble and constrain it to floor level with it's feet and to the conveyor level with his connection lips.

When I place a second leg assembly I should make the assembly unique after placing. The parts in the assembly will not be renamed.

So when I have 10 leg assemblies, all leg assemblies have a different file name. The files within the assembly will be left untouched?

When I want to produce a list with cutting lengths of the vertical tubes can this be extracten out of the situation above?

Kind regards,

Lars
