We are having a problem in the disposal of waste regeneration water from our ion exchange resin system. Presently this water gets mixed with the cooling tower blowdown and and goes to aa neutalising pond where it is diluted , pH corrected before discharging into the municipal system. We are located in a place where water is available at a premium . Any suggestions for conservation / recovery of this waste water ?

If reverse osmosis is an option , how is the concentrated effluent disposed off?

Thanks

Kandy,

I think reverse osmosis certainly is an option, but there will remain a concentrated effluent with salts. There is equipment available to concentrate this further to dry mass, but you still have waste. I suggest you contact a waste treatment firm about the costs to handle your waste.

Find out what is cheaper, concentrated liquid or dry mass.
