I have assembled parts created by myself in Pro/E with parts created in UG from a 3rd party. The UG parts were imported as IGES files with color. I am not able to suppress the hidden lines in the IGES parts. When unshaded, the parts are always shown as wireframes (colored) - in part and drawing mode. Can these files be fixed to behave like Pro/E parts as far as their appearance? The IGES parts are very complex internally, and therefore make drawings a mess when they show every internal feature as a wireframe. I can do without the internal details completely. I am only interested in the external surfaces.

Try VIEW, DISPLAY MODE, VIEW DISP, select the view or views, accept, "QLT HLR", DONE.

The QLT HLR is the key!

I've had some troubles like those. In my case the lines where curves not being on any surface, in this case try covering the layer.

...or the IGES file was created with 'Wireframe Only' option checked. Have it exported again with surfaces instead.
