Why can't we use steel as Qing skin instead of aluminum alloy 2024.. although skin is lighter in weight when compared to aluminum alloy 2024.. density of steel is more than aluminum alloy.. is there any engineering reason ( tensile or compression ) other material properties to use aluminum alloy as wing skin ?

SWALL... respectfully...
The MiG29 was a 'lead sled'. The Soviets could not, would not, make it from titanium alloys... So SStl alloys were the only choice available for the airframe heating @ Mach3.0+... and very few were ever built. OH... and the engines were running so hot at max thrust, they were usually unserviceable on-landing... 'trashed'... after most M2.5+ high speed flights.
