gentlemen:
we had a separator delivered with its anchor bolt holes at fifteen degrees offset. installing the separator would result in a fifteen degree offset of all the nozzle connections as the poured foundation including the installed anchor bolts were based on the design drawings. the ASME inspector based his inspection and approvals on the client-approved fabrication drawings, which was inadvertently approved with the 15-degree offset.
all piping systems were already installed and if the 15-degree offset of the separator is not corrected, it would mean a workover of the piping system.
what we did is to re-bore, through magnetic drilling, the correct location of the holes and subsequently had the separator installed, flushed, pressurized and commisssioned together with the piping system.
since the re-drilled bolt holes were located in a non pressure area of the separator, which is the skirt, we deemed it safe and will not affect the ASME stamp.
i'd like to know if the re-drilling affected the ASME stamp and if it did, how will we be able to regain the ASME stamp?
