what are the equations that can be used for sizing the vent for the reactor for emergency relief and normal operation?

Look for API 520 if we are talking PSV. if its a blow down valve it will depend on your configuration - but a coomon setup is a FB ball valve with an RO after - the RO can be sized using the same equations as for the PSV (the correction factor is a good assumption if you dont have better).

Its most of the standard - and its fee.

Remember taht the sizing is maybe less than half of the task (the vendor will do it for you anyway) - the most import part is setting up your relief cases. Here you have to look for API 521 - and engineering experience....

It’s more than just the sizing equations you need. What is the design code of the vessel? That affects the relevant standards. Have you already determined the relief case? Is it two-phase?

Your question makes me think you are new to relief sizing. I don’t know what your “reactor” is, but it certainly isn’t the system you want to size as your first one. Get some guidance from an experienced designer.
