How thick are the materials and what is the service temperature?

finished it is 1 inch, 25mm tick, sincerely i don t know service temperature, i m only manufacturer nit designer, i know this cylinder is used in hot roll mill, maybe 500-600 C°?
thanks for help

In this case, use the following;

Filler metal - Inconel 82 or 182

Preheat - 200 deg F

Cool in air

Interpass temperature - 350 deg F max

hi stanweld
i do not understand what do you want to day with Ditto metengr.

i had this information by Esab:

Filler Metal - Arcaloy 312-16 (E312-16) or OK 68.81 (E312-17)
Preheating would not normally be required
Slow cooling would not normally be required
For a simple flange to pipe weld post weld heat treatment would not normally be necessary

What do you think about?
thanks

I think the nickel base filler metal will provide better service versus the 312 because of the better match in the linear coefficient of expansion between the carbon steel and cast austenitic stainless steel. The preheat is for the carbon steel, not the austenitic stainless steel.

Concur with metengr, especially on the importance of preheat on the carbon side and slow cooling. Either use hi-temp insulation or vermeculite as soon as each weld pass is completed, wait until temp is below 350F. The 350F max is for the S/S side.
