welding a 2.5" pipe to 6" pipe without fittings

Does it comply with ASME B36.1 to weld a 2.5" pipe to a 6" main pipe through making hole on the main pipe and welding the other pipe in the T form? both pipes are seamless sch 40 and water pressure is 100 psi.
 
What's your Code of Construction?
 
do you mean B 31.1 ? 36.1 doesn't exist AFAIK

If so check out para 127.4.8

Design temp makes a difference also.

& also cold water run in the pipe.
