We are utilizing a fully automatic GTAW welding machine, the MaTig-502 from Maus, for tube-to-tubesheet welding. According to EN ISO 6947:2019, a new welding position, "PK," has been introduced specifically for orbital welding.

To the best of my knowledge, ASME Section IX does not define a welding position for orbital welding. What would be the best way to describe the welding position for a tube-to-tubesheet joint in this context?

Same as manual GTAW.

Regards

I’d say this is covered in QW-461.9. It’s either SP per QW-303.3 or 5F. Per the latter you’re alllowed for all positions for production welding; F, V, H and O.
