Water Source Heat Pump Loop Temperature

Is there a good way to calculate the lowest possible temperature for loop heating while maintaining enough heat to prevent appliance lock-out...or is trial and error the best method?
Would the same formula work for cooling mode?

Review the manufacturer's recommendations for loop temperatures. Their data should provide you with enough information to determine performance losses based on the loop temperature.

Geothermal type units may be better suited for low water temperature applications for heating purposes.

Hi, if u are trying to optimize the system, running it colder (less heat added to the loop) may not save u money in energy. Have a good look at were the heat pumps give u the best performance ie, highest coefficient of performance (COP). In heating mode, as loop temp goes down the unit COP will also go down which means using more electrcial energy.
