vgroove on a curved surface

One other question, if anyone can help.

I am making a round part that is tapered. I need to make
8 v grooves along the tapered surface about 3/8 inch deep. The vgrooves are along the axial axis. Thanks in advance.

One good way to learn SolidWorks, create a test parts and assemblies and drawings. Go thru each one using all icons to see what they do....in addition to the tutorials CBL suggested above.

I also suggest getting some training which will build a good solid foundation. If you don't establish a good solid foundation you can expect nothing but problems and issues with your models.

Ooops! ... sorry just re-read you question ... "along the axial axis".

You need to create a plane perpendicular to the tapered edge, sketch the v-groove onto that plane, then do a Cut-extrude.
