I've got a single lift module that will be shipped via ship channel to the platform. The client standards require 1.0g lateral load for transportation via ship.
Aside from using restraints (strapping, etc.) is there a methodology which allows for the absorption of energy due to the strain energy / deflection of the steel? I'd liken this motion to seismic loads where we can reduce the applied load with the response modification factor "R".
Is there anything like that for transportation loads?
