Hi All,

Just wanted to check a quick calculation.
I have a external gear on a gearbox with 89 teeth. (its brake disk but it has teeth on it)
For maintenance purposes, I want to rotate this and in a certain situation. I know the torque to rotate gearbox is 8kNm

If I attach a drive unit (e.g. Motor) with a smaller gear (12 teeth)

Motor Torque (driver) = Gearbox gear(Driven)/Gear Ratio = 8kNm/7.4 = 1kNm

I will factor in efficiency later.

Yes.
Gearbox increases torque, but reduces speed by the factor of gear ratio.
