Hi,
we have a problem trying to do a FE- simulation of a heat treatment/case-hardening in order to calculate thermal strains and stresses.
We want to do this by applying a high temperature during a short period of time, until the temperature at depth 1.5 mm in the material has reached half of the applied temperature.
(We are assuming that the layer of the surface treatment is as thick as the distance to where the T= To/2)
We have applied the temperature in ANSYS Wb using a "Transient thermal analysis" and also applied radiation with emissivity=1, at ambient temperature 22 degrees C... We are not sure this is correct though (not used to thermal loads)...
Using this conditions the temperature is rising very quickly within the material (too quick!!!), therefore we assume that we are doing something wrong... Do anyone have some ideas of how we should apply the load and the boundary conditions???
I would be sooo greatful for some tips and comments, are totally stuck!!!
