How is thermal analysis used in your metal post-processing workflow?

I’m looking to better understand how thermal analysis is applied in various metal post-processing operations such as: Heat treatment, additive manufacturing / 3D printing, welding, brazing, soldering, surface coating & casting etc.

Thermal analysis used to evaluate material properties at every stage in above operations. I want to understand - What role does thermal analysis play in these processes? What challenges do you face when it comes to material behavior, quality control, or process optimization or any?

I’d appreciate any insights or examples from your experience.
