Hi,

I want to machine the inside of a copper ring. Therefore, I want to clamp the ring (diameter 25 mm, length 6 mm) around its outside by making aluminium clamping part. By heating the aluminium clamping part, assembling the ring in the clamp and cool down, both are fixed. My question is: how can I calculate the clamping force if the outer diameter of the ring is slightly bigger than the inside diameter of the aluminium clamp?

Thanks

Thx! That is what I was looking for.

hi drir

I think you might find that both analysis will lead to the same conclusion when you apply the negative temperature gradient i.e. cooling.
