Hi,
I have a stand that is 17" W x 16" D x 6' T. Material is 1/4" aluminum plate. Do I need to increase the depth to make sure it's not tipping over? What's the formula?
Appreciate it,

In tipping, the critical factor is the height of the center of gravity as the center of gravity passes over the pivot point compared to the original height. The larger the change in that height, the more energy required to cause tipping. One consideration is that this relates to the potential energy that is stored at the tipping point will be supplied by some external source; if the amount is exactly the same the item may tip or may tip back depending on some slight input - wind, a tiny rock; but if there is more energy put in than the tipping potential energy, then the item will continue past that point.

Do I need to increase the depth to make sure it's not tipping over?
--YES

What's the formula?

∑Fx=0
∑Fy=0
