have a monorail design
however need a significant sized stub shaft of about 3 m long.

allowing for off vertical loading may put extra bending moment on the connections of this shaft.

any other alarms that i should be considering outside of this fact?

happy holidayz.[afro2]

I would be concerned about lateral deflection. Some client sites I have worked for require an allowance of 10% of the rated capacity for lateral loading which in your case would result in considerable deflection unless you have some method of providing lateral restraint to the top flange and rely on the subs to carry tension loads only. What size monorail is this?
