Strainer back pressure

Can anyone suggest a calculation method to determine the pressure drop for a fluid through a 10x10 strainer mesh?
Viscosity: 200cp
Flow: 180 GPM
Velocity 8 ft/sec
Tube dia: 2.875 ID
Screen 56% open area
The screen is formed into a vertical basket with a 4" dia flat end. It is 16" long and 9" dia at the basket open end. The strainer is inside a 10"dia x 18" long canister.

This formula is what I need, unfortunately, I am using a made-up strainer so I have no simple way of arriving at a Cv. I need to calculate that value.

Can you talk to Hayward and get a dP for a given area and fluid and then correct it to your flow and conditions?

I'm thinking with something like the formulas in Crane you should be able to come up with a 'K' or 'Cv' term and then stick in your process conditions.
 
Perry VI Section V, gives (+/- 20%) estimates based on E.I. Dupont de Nemours & Co. data.
 
albresco, Remember, the values you calculate for the strainer drop will be for new /unused conditions. As time passes, and the strainer loads up, the pressure drop will increase. So the value calculated should be viewed as a minimum value.
