Hi all,

Please help me out its urgent.
I have assembly file with a lot sub parts say some 100's, i have to convert that assembly file to stp 214. When i am exporting that to stp 214 it is not opening all the parts as we have in original assembly file. It may missing some parts or it may have some extra part files. Please gimme options so that it can create stp file properly.

When creating your step file use "selected components" option under the middle tab. Then select what you want to export out. Just a thought.

what I would consider doing, is do a parasolid export of that assembly, then bring those parasolids into a new file and do the STEP export from that file.
It will all be exported to STEP as a single file, not individual component files that are brought into the assembly, so that is something that you need to consider.

Jerry,

If we use export parasolid the parts with their respective file names remain as same or it will take as with name 'body'

Thanks & Regards,
Vishnu

You have to use the option "Export entire part" (in export step 214):
This is the only way to keep the tree of the assembly.
To filter what you have to export, you have to use the option of the layer
an the object option.
In added you coud suppres the component that you don't need to export.

Are any of the parts you are exporting surfaces? If so make sure you have your step export options with surfaces also selected. Also make sure you have this set when you import your step file also. I read on GTAC about issues with step translation issues and you may have ran into a little snag.
