Hello all, I have been tasked to create standard notes for our drawings and saw the topic started back in 2005. I am sure things have changed significantly since then so I am wondering now what the best solution would be for someone that needs to create different notes to have on cast drawings, machined drawings, etc.

One thing I tried and failed was to have the notes as a custom symbol, but it didn't work because we have custom symbols inside the notes (number with a triangle around them) and also refer to attributes which it didn't like either.

Thanks in advance!

You can use standard notes in your template file(s) that have the notes for each drawing type.

You can make a program that puts notes on a drawing, like I did in that other topic using GRIP or another UG language.

It all depends on the level of flexibility you need from your note program.

I am trying to keep 1 template per sheet size so I would rather not have all the notes listed.
I don't know a thing about grip or programming. Where would I start?

You could make a couple different note prt files. Then just insert this prt files into your drawings.

I tried the drag and drop method, it works with text only, but not if there are referenced attributes.

SDETERS,

Can you clarify how I would make a note part file?

You can also open any file saved as plain text, i.e '.txt' file, inside the NX Note Editor.

I think SDETERS has given me the solution that will work best for what I need. I have successfully created a text part and imported it back to a drawing with the symbols and the attributes I need.
