3D PMI and MBD vs 2D Drawings

Has more companies been moving to MBD, vs 2D drawings? We are still using the hybrid system, where we have a 2D drawing with the most important dimensions, and all other surfaces default back to a surface profile to the 3D model. Just being curious of the MBD adoption over the last couple of years.
