after welding stainless 316l with stainless steel wire using t.i.g ,when i checked weld with magnet i find that it is slightly magnetic. why does this happen.
ER316L is formulated so that it has a some ferrite, which is magnetic. Filler metals that have no, or very little ferrite have a tendency to hot crack. Certain welding codes actually specify a minimum ferrite level in order to prevent this cracking.
I recommend that you also check the base metal for magnetism. If the base metal is cold worked it may show some magnetism. Such magnetism would be removed after solution annealing.
