Slope paving

Has anyone used chainlink fence as reinforcement for shotcrete slope paving? I have a client who wants to use the chainlink as an alternative to WWF for slope paving for permanent erosion control. The ground surface is fairly irregular making the chainlink much easier to install. The chainlink will be supported on rebar and then shotcrete will be applied over the top. Becuase it's essentially a non-structural application, I can't think of a good reason to say no. Additionally, the chainlink is galvanized and the reinforcement ration is higher. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

As long as it is not serving any structural purpose, any non degradable material can serve.

Much more expensive than vegetation, but it's a surface that's been stripped down to rock, making it challenging to establish growth. The rock is somewhat erodable with a 50% grade down to the house (at the toe of the slope), hence the concern. The project geotech has indicated the slope is stable, so this is being specified as non-structural slope paving. That being said, I'm trying to provide as much reinforcing and structural capacity without adding significant cost.
