Sketcher Locks into 2D mode: 3D Connexion Space Navigator, NX4 1

Greetings all,
A colleague of mine, using a 3D Connexion Space Navigator (hockey puck) and NX4, is learning to use sketcher. Every time he launches the program, it locks into 2D mode. He made some inquiries and was informed that this is an irreversible function of the 3D Connexion drivers for the Space Navigator. Is there a way to disable this feature, so as to work in 3D while in sketcher mode?
I have been using sketcher since v10, and use it exclusively. I have never had this problem, but I use an "old fashioned" Spaceball.

That's not true. Reload the latest driver but DON'T add any of the CAD product specific options.

I asked about his recently. You can go to Add/Remove programs, select the Spaceware drivers and use the "Change" option to turn off the UG drivers.
